Meeting Minutes

  • Tanner Royce – Discussion: Tanner answered some questions from the committee and expressed his interest in joining. Motion to appoint: Charleen, Seconded by Erica. All were in favor.
Paul – not present tabled until January

  • Minutes: Minutes read. Motion to approve: Erica, Seconded by Charleen. All were in favor.
  • Turkey Trot: Update from Scott
  • Approx. 900 people paid for registrations. Approx. 650 people crossed the finish line.
  • Volunteers and new timing company were wonderful, small kinks to iron out, but it was their first year.
  • Scott will call and book the timing company for next year.
  • Discussion about the Facebook page comments & photos. Also to put more information about the Chicken Run on the Facebook page.
  • Harbor Magic:
  • Scott publicly thanked Police, Fire, Hwy. Dept for both TT & HM events.
  • 35 people participated in the Looney Lunge
  • The event went well – KUDOS TO RHONDA GURNEY!!
  • Only 1 problem, the bonfire was cancelled due to the trees behind the Ben Mere.
  • Decorating of the Big Christmas Tree was brought up again, the board decided against it back in July. Project Sunapee wanted to donate lights & cost of electric, but FD did not have the time. Also Scott H. says that tree is going to be cut down. DISCUSSION: The Rec. Com. Decided we cannot take on the responsibility of decorating around town.
  • Basketball:  Overall good participation this season.
  • 3-6 First week went well
  • K-2 (5) Kinders signed up (20) 1st & 2nd graders signed up.
Open Gym starts Sat 6-8 PM

  • XC Skiing: Discussion:
  • Dexter’s Inn has 30 KM of trails. Can a pass be given to all Rec. Com. Members to try out the trails?
  • Can the Rec Dept. Sponsor an event?
  • Can the Rec Dept. Sponsor lessons? Cost to Rec $150.00 for up to 10 people in a class ages 8 and up.
  • Moonlight snowshoe? Jan 15 & Feb 14 7:00 PM 30-60 minutes with Hot Chocolate around the fire?
  • Bi-Athlon – using paintball, would need volunteers, maybe in March?
  • We discussed events on private land vs. Town land. Do we have the capability to create a position? Do we want to do that for XC Ski Instructor?
  • DISCISION: Start with just 1 Activity. Rec Dept to sponsor Free Child w/paying adult during Winter Break M-F. Motion: Charleen, Seconded by Erica. All Were In Favor.
  • John sill send an e-mail to Scott with the details.
  • Sunapee Seniors: Rec has a $2000.00 budget for the Sunapee Seniors. It is used for busses during trips.

  • Other Business
  • Coaches Children: Erica asked the question “Do coaches children play for free?”
  • Answer: Yes. Coaches children can play for free, some people take advantage of that, some people don’t.  Should we continue this practice? Rec Comm. Approves of this.
